Situated between the real and the imaginary, familiar relationships are at the center of Biba's work. Biba's paintings interrogate the invisible factors that make a memory or moment feel special. Instead of simply capturing a feeling as it occurred, Biba questions themes of oath, prayer, wishes, and holiness–all invisible concepts that enchant (and guide) our everyday lives. Imaginary sentinels, guardian angels and eden-esque environments enmesh with camera roll images of her parents, friends, and selfies in a way that can become quietly ominous.
